Inconsiderate Parking

During todays patrols officers from Bakewell and Matlock Safer Neighbourhood Teams responded to reports of vehicles obstructing the highway on South Church Street in Bakewell.  

Upon attendance officers found that two vehicles had parked in a way that stopped larger vehicles being able to pass.  A bus was delayed for over an hour as a result and several carnival officials had to resort to directing traffic in order to keep other vehicles moving until officers arrived.  Officers made a few enquiries and arranged recovery for the vehicle who had inconsiderately parked opposite the other.  

Whilst waiting for recovery of the vehicle the drivers of both vehicles returned.   The driver was reported for the offence of wilfully obstructing the highway contrary to Section  137 of the Highways Act 1980 and will be dealt with accordingly.
